【🌦 2022 ECRs in Sustainability Science 6️⃣】Texas Cold Snap and Siberian Heat Wave in the Perspective of Natural Variability and Warming Trend 自然氣候變異與人為氣候變遷下的極端天氣事件:德州寒潮與西伯利亞熱浪 >> https://pse.is/44nzl4
In this talk Dr. Hsu will talk about two #ExtremeWeather events: 1) the 2021 North American ❄️ cold snap that caused the worst energy infrastructure failure in Texas state history, leaving millions without electricity or heating amid freezing temperatures, 2) the 2020 Siberian 💥 heatwave that produced highest temperature ever recorded above the Arctic Circle. These two extreme events are characterized by large-scale background circulation anomalies that were manifestation of both natural variability and a warming trend.
#SDG13
