【Special Session ⭐️ 2022 ECRs in Sustainability Science 🔟】Taipei-French GSHs Collaboration: Carbon Issues
Early Career Researchers (ECR) working group of Future Earth Taipei is looking for wider collaboration with ECRs in other global hubs (Africa, Canada, China, France, Japan, South Asia, Sweden, USA) - let ECRs to share their research outcomes in relation to sustainability and climate change.
★ In this short talk ———
🇹🇼 Dr. Milan Chen will talk about how to change the energy system from using fossil fuels to using low-carbon energy sources in less than 30 years - he will use the viewpoint from energy system modelling to explain UK’s net-zero pathways, and discuss Taiwan’s challenges and opportunity in the transition to net-zero.
🇫🇷 The main process for stabilization of SOM (Soil Organic Matter) is the interaction of organic compounds with the soil minerals. The team proposed a 3D molecular model of this interaction called ‘‘Nanosized Coprecipitates of inorganic oLIgomers with organiCs” with ‘‘nanoCLICs” as an acronym. A quantification of these nanoCLICs is essential to estimate their role in C sequestration in soils and to determine whether they play an important role in the loss of soil C upon cultivation.

🇫🇷 穩定 SOM（土壤有機質）的主要過程是有機化合物與土壤礦物質的交互作用。該團隊提出了這種交互作用的 3D 分子模型，稱為 Nanosized Coprecipitates of inorganic oLIgomers with organiCs (nanoCLICs)。對這些 nanoCLIC 進行量化非常重要——對於估計它們在土壤中固碳的作用，以及確定它們是否在耕作時的土壤碳損失中發揮重要作用。
