2022 Advanced Institute on Health Investigation and Air Sensing for Asian Pollution (AI on Hi-ASAP)

2022 Advanced Institute on Health Investigation and Air Sensing for Asian Pollution (AI on Hi-ASAP)

Time: 14:00-17:00 (UTC+8), 5-7 & 15 December

In partnership with Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia, Future Earth Taipei, and International Global Atmospheric Chemistry project – Monsoon Asia and Oceania Networking Group (IGAC-MANGO), Academia Sinica and Integrated Research on Disaster Risk, International Centre of Excellence-Taipei (IRDR ICoE-Taipei) will organize a virtual training workshop for health and atmospheric chemistry researchers on 5-7 & 15 December 2022. The workshop is also supported by Future Earth Global Secretariat Hub Taipei.

Health Investigation and Air Sensing for Asian Pollution (Hi-ASAP) has been endorsed as a Future Earth Asia Activity, developed under the umbrella of IGAC-MANGO. It collaborates with all these international partners (Future Earth Taipei, IGAC-MANGO, and IRDR ICoE-Taipei) to organize this Advanced Institute (AI) to strengthen researches in the field of air pollution and health in Asia. Air pollution is a severe environmental health challenge in current Asia. The low-cost PM2.5 sensors developed under the support of Academia Sinica are applied in this Hi-ASAP activity with 10 Asian countries involved.

This AI is aiming at training all participating research groups from different countries to adopt a common methodology to facilitate international comparison of PM2.5 exposure-health relationships and identify key strategies to reduce health risks due to PM2.5. It is designed with lectures on updated knowledge on the environmental and health sensors, advanced training on data analysis, and systems-based approaches on integration of environmental, health and equity data. In addition, this AI has more sessions on discussion for data integration and comparison among different research groups.
